Manta Ray Night Snorkel Kona
See Manta Rays Feeding Up Close
Imagine an adventure where you get to close up and personal with some of the ocean’s gentle giants. On the Big Island of Hawaii, you can have this once-in-a-lifetime snorkeling experience with manta rays! As night falls, you’ll head out into the water to snorkel with these docile creatures who come to feed on plankton attracted by lights. With a guide in the water, you’ll be able to safely witness this amazing phenomenon and create memories that will last a lifetime.
We provide wetsuits and snorkel gear to get in the water while the Manta Rays are feeding. Our expert guides will talk with you about the mantas, their significance to the Islands, and some knowledge about their behavior. First-time snorkelers and beginner swimmers can be accommodated with flotation devices – no non-swimmers please. Our captains, certified by the U.S. Coast Guard, will ensure your safety, giving you the best snorkeling of your life! The crew will not only guide you in the water but also entertain and educate you, sharing the history and culture of the Big Island.
Manta rays are one of the most mesmerizing creatures in the ocean. These harmless and docile creatures need to eat 10 percent of their body weight, and the plankton they feed on are attracted by our lights. With a guide in the water, you will get to see them up close. The manta rays appear out of the darkness and somersault close enough for you to feel their wake as they glide by. You will enjoy the beautiful starlit sky as we head back to the pier. Snorkeling with manta rays at night is an unforgettable experience that you will cherish forever.
After our snorkel, take some time to enjoy the night sky on the way back. If you love stargazing, there’s no better place to be than the Big Island. Thanks to its dark-sky friendly lighting regulations, the island offers some of the best views of the stars in the world. You’ll be amazed at how many stars you can see, especially when you view them from a boat. In addition to stars, you can also see the Galactic Center of the Milky Way from the Big Island.
